1. Introduction
Mekmate ("we", "our", "us") is a digital comparison service operated by Rinor Sadiku. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use the Mekmate application ("App").
By using the App, you consent to the practices described in this policy. We process your data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Swedish data protection legislation.

- Full name
- Email address
- Profile picture (if provided)
- Account type (Customer or Workshop Owner)
b) Vehicle Information (Customers)
- Vehicle type, model, year
- Registration number
- Kilometers driven
c) Workshop Information (Workshop Owners)
- Workshop name
- Workshop images
- Services offered
- Ratings and reviews
d) Service Data
- Service requests and quotes
- Order history
- Chat messages between customers and workshops
- Review and rating content
e) Technical Data
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token for push notifications
- Device type and operating system
- App usage data
4. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the App's services
- To facilitate communication between customers and workshops
- To send push notifications about service requests, quotes, and order updates
- To display reviews and ratings
- To improve our services and user experience
- To comply with legal obligations
Legal basis: Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), Contract performance (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), and Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Your data may be shared with:
- Other users: Your name and profile picture are visible to workshops/customers you interact with. Reviews are publicly visible.
- Firebase (Google): We use Firebase for authentication, data storage, file storage, and push notifications. Google's privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Service providers: We may use third-party services for analytics and app functionality.
6. Data Storage and Security
- Your data is stored on Firebase servers (Google Cloud Platform) within the EU/EEA region where possible.
- We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data.
- Passwords are managed by Firebase Authentication and are never stored in plain text.
- We use HTTPS for all data transmission.
7. Data Retention
- Active account data is retained as long as your account exists.
- When you delete your account, your personal data is marked for deletion and removed from active systems.
- Chat messages and service history may be retained for up to 12 months after account deletion for legal and dispute resolution purposes.
- Anonymized/aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.
8. Your Rights (GDPR)
As a data subject, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: Request a copy of your personal data.
- Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Right to restrict processing: Request limitation of data processing.
- Right to data portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object: Object to data processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw your consent at any time.

9. Push Notifications
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send push notifications about:
- New service requests
- Quotes received or accepted
- Order status updates
- New chat messages
- New reviews
You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.
10. Children's Privacy
Our App is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete such data.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be announced in the App. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
